Foot Switch A foot switch is a rugged switch that operates through plantar pressure. An example uses control of a machine tool so that both hands of the operator are free to manipulate the workpiece. A foot-controlled electric guitar is also a footswitch. A DPDT switch has six connections, but since polarity reversal is a very common usage, some variations of the DPDT switch are built specifically for polarity reversal inside the DPDT switch.
